Saturday 8th August at Starcross, saw the men’s double rink progress to Leamington with a narrow 34-32 victory against Plymouth Sir Francis Drake B.C. The team now face Worcester B.C. on 27th August at Victoria Park Royal Leamington in the National quarter final. Well done and good luck at Leamington to Nick, Dan, Simon, James, Steve, Tim, Kevin and Jack
Friday evening 31st July at Culm Vale Bowls Club saw the Team of Margaret Affleck, Glen Shedden, Tim Hemburrow, Mark Reeve, Julie Tepielow, Sue Tanton, Lynn Williams and Steve Smart victorious against a team from Topsham in the last 16 of the Tony Alcock Trophy. The team will now travel to the National finals at Leamington Spa on 14th August to play in the quarter finals.

Sunday 19th July saw this year’s club outdoor triples competition being played in sunny conditions. This consisted of 10 teams competing in three round robin games with the two best teams through to the final. Well done to the winning trio but also well done to all 31 players that took part on the day. The qualifying position changed dramatically from the 2nd to 3rd session with the leaders failing to make the final and Mark, Kim and Tom leap frogging several other teams into the final by winning their 3rd match 13-2. The final was nip and tuck until the penultimate end with Allan and Co scoring 6 for what turned out to be an unassailable lead despite some heroics from Kim on the last end. Everyone enjoyed the day and we hope to run some similar events next season.

This is a Bowls England National Inter County Ladies Under 25 Competition. Somerset are the current holders of the Trophy. The regional South West Finals feature Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Devon and Wessex. Good luck and good bowling to all of the competitors. The event will take place this Sunday 14th June.
Only three days to go to the opening of the green and the beginning of the outdoor season. The final preparations and touches are underway and the weather forecast is looking good. Hopefully another enjoyable and successful season lies ahead.
Taunton finished off the season in style with an 11-1 win at home V Ilminster B in the final game of the 2025 season to clinch the Premier Division of the Somerset County League.
The A & C teams have clinched their respective divisions with a game to spare!
Our Annual Open Day takes place on Saturday 30th May between 11 am and 3 pm with everyone welcome.
All necessary equipment will be available for you to try your hand at the great game of bowls.
If you enjoy playing, you will be offered three free coaching sessions which will help you decide if you would like to become a club member.
Games are played all year round on our three indoor rinks and during the summer months on the outdoor green which has six rinks.
The men play in the Somerset County League on Saturdays, Mixed teams play in the West Somerset League on Thursday evenings. The Ladies Play in Somerset County League on a Saturday and South and West Somerset Ladies League on afternoons during the week.
There are both indoor (winter) and outdoor ( Summer) mixed friendlies each season where men and ladies of all ages and abilities join to play against other local clubs in friendly matches which are great fun and played in cordial and friendly atmosphere.
